SCUDEM V 2020 Invitation

We invite you and your students to participate in SCUDEM V 2020.

SCUDEM – SIMIODE Challenge Using Differential Equations Modeling is an opportunity for teams of three high school or undergraduate students to engage in modeling using differential equations. They will address a problem in one of three areas, physics/engineering, chemistry/life sciences, and social sciences/humanities. During the period 23 October – 14 November 2020 teams will work on their problem of choice using differential equation models and produce a 10 minute presentation video for upload to YouTube for faculty judging and feedback.

Complete information and registration for SCUDEM is available. Here you can also find all past SCUDEM problems and ALL student submissions, helpful resources for students and coaches, and descriptions of coaching opportunities as well as general modeling advice.

Teams can consist of students with a faculty coach from one institution OR individual students and coaches can register and SIMIODE will form teams with members from around the world. Imagine students and coach coming from Lagos NIGERIA, Milwaukee WI USA, London ENGLAND, and Nur-Sultan KAZAKHSTAN. This is a chance to make life-long professional friends from around the world. Registration is $10 US/student and is free in developing countries.

Here are the important dates:

We are also seeking coaches to work with student teams and volunteer judges to view, judge, and render constructive comments on three student produced 10 minute presentation videos for a total commitment of one hour time. You will enjoy seeing the results of these focused student teams and their remarkable results.

Please Register here for student, coach, or judge.
