Το Γενικό Σεμινάριο Τμήματος συνεχίζεται αύριο, Τετάρτη 28/5, με την ενδέκατη ομιλία του Εαρινού εξαμήνου, η οποία θα γίνει στην αίθουσα 342, ώρα 14:00 - 15:00. Η ομιλία αυτή θα είναι στα ελληνικά.

Με την ομιλία αυτή θα ολοκληρωθεί το Γενικό σεμινάριο του Τμήματος μας για την ακαδημαϊκή χρονιά 2024-25.

Τίτλος ομιλίας: From Higgs bundles to complex flat connections and back

Περίληψη: In the first part of the talk I will give a brief introduction to the nonabelian Hodge correspondence. This highly transcendental correspondence provides a deep connection between complex flat connections on bundles over a Riemann surface Σ (and thus representations of the fundamental group of Σ by means of the Riemann-Hilbert correspondence) and Higgs bundles on Σ. In the second part of the talk I will explain the failure of the correspondence to be complex analytic and I will discuss my work on quantifying this failure from a geometric point of view. In particular, I will state a conjecture due to Simpson regarding the moduli space of complex flat connections and time permitting, I will sketch my proof of the conjecture in rank 2.
